It Has Been a Hot Minute

It has been over a year since I wrote in this blog. There have been many reasons why.
I have been frustrated with my body and weight loss. There is nothing worse than feeling like you are doing the right things and seeing no progress.
My other frustration is putting in the work to become faster, watching others get faster, and staying stagnant. After years of advocating for myself, and going to multiple doctors that told me I just need to diet and exercise and that weight will come right off, my current functional doctor found several things my body is not regulating correctly and why I am having so much trouble losing weight.
After another DNF at 70.3 Augusta in September, I am spending the next three months as starting over. I am working on fundamentals. I am adding more strength training, as tests have shown I am in perimenopause. There is a great book I recommend called Next Level: Your Guide to Kicking Ass, Feeling Great, and Crushing Goals Through Menopause and Beyond. It discusses how to navigate perimenopause without stopping doing what you love.
To get through this part of life, you have to be strong. It is no fun wondering where your endurance went or feeling like you just got off the couch for every workout, or being super sore and tired after every workout when you consistently workout. I have wanted to quit so many times, but I know one day I will look back and smile. I will be so proud of the woman who refused to quit. The one who many days wondered why are you still trying? You are still at the back of the pack. Just give up and find a new hobby that is much easier. I may be 43 but I still have big dreams and will achieve them. I look forward to writing fun and encouraging content and taking you all on my journey.
